Group-stage drama reaches boiling point Saturday night — Spain need a result, Ronaldo wants the headlines, and England can’t afford another stumble.
WEEKEND PREVIEW
Saturday’s schedule reads like a greatest-hits collection. First on the card is Panama vs England at MetLife Stadium (3pm ET / 8pm BST), where England need three points after their flat 0-0 draw with Ghana. Panama are already eliminated, but England’s bid to top Group L — and earn a more favourable path in the Round of 32 — means they cannot afford complacency. Four points from two games keeps them in control; they just need the performance to match the position.
The evening ramps up with Colombia vs Portugal at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami (7:30pm ET / 12:30am BST). Colombia top Group K with a perfect six points while Portugal, on four, must win to seize first place. Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice against Uzbekistan to become the first player to score in six separate FIFA World Cup tournaments — he will not be satisfied watching Colombia take the group banner from second.
The marquee fixture is Uruguay vs Spain in Guadalajara (8pm ET / 1am BST). Spain lead Group H on four points and need only a draw to advance to the knockout rounds. Uruguay, two points behind, must win or risk a nervy wait on the Cape Verde vs Saudi Arabia result. There is one complication for Spain: Pedri, the connective heart of their midfield, is suspended after two yellow cards. For Uruguay, a window has opened.

Here is where to watch every match this weekend, wherever you are.
